Hello there,
I’m Katie Kitzing.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Rooted Wellness & Counseling. My journey into this work has been shaped by both professional training and personal experience, and each has influenced how I practice today.

MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

I began my career in social work with a focus on substance use disorders, working in both inpatient and outpatient settings with adolescents and adults. During that time, I became increasingly curious about the deeper patterns beneath addiction — the emotional wounds, nervous system dysregulation, and unresolved experiences that often drive behavior. That curiosity led me to pursue my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling.

After graduate school, I worked in a partial hospitalization program supporting teens and adults navigating acute mood disorders. I witnessed meaningful change in many clients. At the same time, I began to notice that for some, healing felt incomplete — as though certain pieces of their story were still unaddressed.

In my own life, I was navigating anxiety, depression, and a constant sense of being “on edge.” I began exploring functional health approaches to better understand the connection between physical and emotional symptoms. Through that process, I was introduced to muscle testing — a form of biofeedback that helps identify imbalances within the body. It offered a new lens: one that acknowledged the body’s role in storing and communicating stress, trauma, and unmet needs.

As research continues to highlight the ways trauma impacts the nervous system and shapes unconscious patterns, I became increasingly interested in modalities that could access what is not always immediately conscious or verbal. This led me to pursue certification in The Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code. I completed three levels of training so I could thoughtfully and responsibly integrate this work into my clinical practice.

Today, I blend evidence-based therapy with integrative mind–body techniques to support deeper, more sustainable healing. For some clients, this integration allows us to address patterns that traditional talk therapy alone may not fully reach.

Because this modality can also stand on its own, I offer Emotion and Body Code sessions separately for individuals who are not seeking therapy but are interested in exploring this approach as part of their personal wellness journey.
