Hello there,
I’m Katie Kitzing.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Rooted Wellness & Counseling. My journey into this work has been shaped by both professional training and personal experience, and each has influenced how I practice today.

MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

I began my career in social work with a focus on substance use disorders, working in both inpatient and outpatient settings with adolescents and adults. During that time, I became increasingly curious about the deeper patterns beneath addiction — the emotional wounds, nervous system dysregulation, and unresolved experiences that often drive behavior. That curiosity eventually led me to pursue my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling.

After graduate school, I worked in a partial hospitalization program supporting teens and adults navigating acute mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. I witnessed meaningful transformation in many clients. At the same time, I began noticing that for some individuals, healing still felt incomplete — as though certain pieces of their story remained unresolved beneath the surface.

In my own life, I was navigating anxiety, depression, and a constant sense of being “on edge.” I began exploring functional and holistic health approaches to better understand the connection between physical symptoms, emotional health, and nervous system regulation. Through that process, I was introduced to muscle testing, a form of biofeedback designed to help identify imbalances within the body. It offered a new lens — one that acknowledged the body’s role in storing and communicating stress, trauma, and unmet emotional needs.

As research continues to highlight the impact trauma has on the nervous system and unconscious behavioral patterns, I became increasingly interested in therapeutic modalities that could access what is not always immediately conscious or verbal. This led me to pursue certification in The Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code. I completed three levels of advanced training so I could thoughtfully and responsibly integrate this work into my counseling practice.

Today, I blend evidence-based therapy with integrative mind-body approaches to support deeper, more sustainable healing for women navigating anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, burnout, trauma, and chronic illness. For some clients, this integration allows us to access patterns and nervous system responses that traditional talk therapy alone may not fully reach.

I provide virtual mental health counseling for clients throughout Washington State, including Lake Stevens, Everett, Marysville, Snohomish, and surrounding Snohomish County communities. I also offer Emotion Code, Body Code, Belief Code, and muscle testing services nationwide for individuals seeking a holistic approach to emotional wellness and personal healing.
